Common Megatron is in Bot mode. He has Grenade Launcher equipped giving him +4 attack. He attacks Barrage in Bot mode. Megatron does not flip any orange icons and Barrage does not flip any blue icons. Megatron's attack is 8 w/Pierce 3 (due to his ability), while Barrage has 2 defense. Does he only deal 6 damage for the entire attack or 3 only due to his Pierce 3?
6. Pierce is a minimum damage.

Is Pierce damage still considered attack damage? For example, if someone is attacking me with Pierce 4 against a character like Insecticon Skrapnel whose text is cant take more than 3 damage during an attack, does that mean even though they have Pierce 4 after adding attack damage, would they only do 3, or would they do 4?

Pierce is an ability that applies to attack damage. But, effects like Insecticon Skrapnels or the Safeguard ability will still apply. In your example, Skrapnel would take only 3 damage.

Arcee is in Bot mode. She attacks Barrage in Bot mode. Arcee flips 3 orange icons and Barrage flips 2 blue icons. Arcee's attack is 4 w/Pierce 4 (due to her ability), while Barrage has 4 defense. Does she only deal 0 damage for the entire attack or 4 only due to her Pierce 4?
After flipping the three orange, she has Pierce 4, meaning she would do a minimum of 4 damage.

Arcee is in Bot mode. She attacks Barrage in Bot mode. Arcee does not flip any orange icons and Barrage flips 2 blue icons. Arcee's attack is 1 w/Pierce 1 (due to her ability), while Barrage has 4 defense. Does she only deal 0 damage for the entire attack or 1 only due to her Pierce 1?
In this scenario, Arcee deals 1 damage.

Does Jazz's ability work with Stable Cover? Stable Cover implies that the enemy still has Pierce, they just can't use it, while Jazz states "an enemy that doesn't have Pierce".
As stated, the enemy still has Pierce so Jazz's alt mode ability does not trigger.

Would Cornered work on a Battle Master causing it to flip to its upgrade side? If yes, what would happen to the upgrade?

No, you can’t flip a Battle Master while it’s on the battlefield.

Once a Battle Master is in the KO pile does it still count as a character while in it's upgrade mode? Can I bring it back to the field with ISF? Is it forced back into bot mode to take the damage if it can? If not does it automatically equip? if it can equip, is it forced to ko pile at the end of the turn?

No, no, not applicable, not applicable, not applicable.

Speaking of when a Battle Master is KO'd, it states that you "play" the Upgrade side. Does that mean that you are technically Upgrading a character triggering effects like Wheeljack's alt mode? Furthermore--and I think I know the answer to this question--does this "play" take up the Upgrade for a turn?

Playing the Upgrade side of a Battle Master is just like playing an Upgrade from anywhere else. Wheeljacks ability will trigger. As you probably know, this does not count as the one upgrade for your turn.

If I have a Laser Cutlass and a Crushing Treads on say, Slammer, and I attack an opponent, does Slammer get the pierce 3 from the Laser Cutlass plus the pierce 3 from the Crushing Treads since pierce adds together and both pierce abilities are triggered differently? So, attacking for 4 with Pierce 6.

Thats correct. In this scenario you would be attacking for 4 with Pierce 6. Pierce stacks on Pierce, but not on regular attack damage.

Apologies if this has been asked before but have a question about type-specific upgrades like Power Sword and Body Armor - These cards specifically requiring Melee characters.
If a character changes type - what happens to the upgrade?

Traits, like Melee, are only requirements for upgrades to be attached to a character. Once attached, they stay on when a character flips between alt and bot modes.

Do you have to attach the Battle Master's Upgrade side? My Wife pulled 2 Lionizers in Turbo Sealed but pull no Orange. When I KO'd Lionizer, would she be forced to scrap EM24 IR Laser Launcher, or could she choose not to attach Lionizer?

Yes, you must attach the Battle Master's Upgrade side. When you attach the Battle Master, you must scrap the older upgrade; in this case, EM24 IR Laser Launcher.

Do Battle Masters in Upgrade mode count towards Stars in the KO area for Emergency Maintenance?

No. When in Upgrade mode, Battle Masters do not count as characters, so they would not be counted by Emergency Maintenance on the battlefield or in the KO area.

Can I KO a Battle Master with Involuntary Promotion if I have no bots in my KO area?

What are Battle Masters?

Battle Masters are characters that start in bot mode and can be played in their upgrade mode
after they are KO’d. Battle Masters don’t have an alt mode and can’t flip while they are on the
battlefield. There are both Autobot and Decepticon Battle Masters.
Source: Wizards of the Coast (2019-03-01)    【Link to Ruling】
Tags: Battle Master
Battle Masters are the same size as battle cards! What does that mean?

The size of the card doesn’t change how they play. While in bot mode, Battle Masters are
just like other characters. They can attack and be attacked, they can be damaged, they can be
upgraded, and so on.
Source: Wizards of the Coast (2019-03-01)    【Link to Ruling】
Tags: Battle Master
If Battle Masters don’t have an alt mode, how do they start the game?

They start on the battlefield in bot mode.

If a card tells me to flip a Battle Master, what happens?

It doesn’t flip. It just stays in bot mode. If the card has additional instructions, those are still
followed if possible.
Source: Wizards of the Coast (2019-03-01)    【Link to Ruling】
Tags: Battle Master
So how do I access the upgrade mode?

If a Battle Master in bot mode is KO’d, you can immediately flip the card and play its other
mode.

Most of the time, characters are KO’d on their opponent’s turn. If that happens to my Battle
Master, can I still play the upgrade?

Yes. This may cause some abilities to trigger that normally don’t during your opponent’s turn.
Source: Wizards of the Coast (2019-03-01)    【Link to Ruling】
Tags: Battle Master
When I play the Battle Master in upgrade mode, does it count as my upgrade play for the
turn?

No. If you played an upgrade earlier in the turn, you can still play the Battle Master in its
upgrade mode after it’s KO’d in bot mode.
In some unusual situations, your Battle Master in bot mode is KO’d during your turn before you
attack. Playing the upgrade mode in those situations doesn’t stop you from then playing an
upgrade from your hand before you attack.

What happens if the Battle Master upgrade would leave the battlefield?

If that happens, the card is put into your KO area with its upgrade mode face up. This can
happen if the upgrade would be returned to your hand, returned to your deck, directly
scrapped, or if the character that had it is KO’d.

Regarding when Battle Masters go to the KO area when they're removed from the battlefield in upgrade mode: Do they switch to bot mode when they go there or do they stay in upgrade mode? And if they do stay in upgrade mode, how does this interact with Emergency Maintenance?

They stay on their Upgrade side and it does not interact with Emergency Maintenance because upgrades are not counted as characters.

Tags: Battle Master, KO
So, when a Battle Master is KO'd, does it count as a KO since they are technically not sent to the KO pile? Or is the instance of "KO" simply contingent on reaching your HP total?

It is a KO and they go to the KO Area, before flipping to its Upgrade side.

What are Battle Masters & Weaponizers?

Battle Masters and Weaponizers are characters that start in bot mode and can be played in their Upgrade mode after they are KO’d. They don’t have alt modes and can’t flip while they are on the battlefield.
In Siege 2 (Wave 4), there are two Weaponizers, each made up of two cards. They start assembled together in bot mode. When one of these Weaponizers is KO’d, it splits into two different Upgrades that you can then play. These Upgrades can be played on separate characters or onto the same character.
After a Battle Master or Weaponizer Upgrade would leave the battlefield, it’s put into your KO area instead.

Tags: Weaponizer, Battle Master
If a Battle Master or Weaponizer is in the KO Pile, and the match runs to time and damage on all characters is assessed, should they count their damage for that total, or are they simply an upgrade with no damage on them?

They are an upgrade with no damage on them. This FAQ item refers to a form of tie-breaker from November 2019 tournament rules prior to November 2019. It is no longer relevant.

How does Pierce work?

Pierce tells you the minimum amount of damage a character can do in an attack, although a character can never do more damage than its attack total. For example, say a character with Pierce 2 attacks. After flipping battle cards, the attack total is 5 and the defense total is 4. Normally, the character with Pierce would do only 1 damage, but because of Pierce, it does 2 damage instead. This also works if the attack total is equal to or less than the defense total. Say the attacker has an attack total of 5, but this time it runs into a massive defense total of 9. If that character had Pierce 2, it would still do 2 damage. If the character with Pierce 2 had an attack total of only 1, it would do 1 damage against any defense total.

Can other effects change the amount of damage done after Pierce is applied?

Yes. For example, say a character with Pierce 4 attacks Insecticon Skrapnel in bot mode. (He has the ability "This can't take more than 3 attack damage from a single attack.") After battle cards are flipped, the attacking character would do 2 damage, but Pierce raises that to 4. Insecticon Skrapnel’s ability would then reduce the damage done to 3.

Tags: Pierce
If I have a character with Pierce 2 (for example), and equip it with an upgrade that gives Pierce 4, the Pierce would be the greatest one or the sum of both?

Pierce stacks, so it would be 6.

Tags: Pierce
There's now an upgrade that says "Opponents cannot have more than Bold 2" or something to that effect. Mechanically, 3 instances of Bold 2 have worked the same as Bold 6. It hasn't been explicitly said that Bold and Tough stack just like Pierce, so does it?

Yes. Bold, Tough, Pierce, and other key words with numerical values do stack.
Source: Wizards of the Coast (2019-10-11)    【Link to Ruling】
Tags: Pierce, Bold, Tough
Can I have more than one of the same Upgrade on the battlefield?

Yes. Upgrades aren’t unique. You could have two characters each with the same Weapon, for
example.
Source: Wizards of the Coast (2018-10-11)    【Link to Ruling】
Tags: Upgrade
Some Upgrades say "Put on [something] only." How does that work?

These abilities describe what kind of character the Upgrade can be put on. This is usually a trait such
as Melee, Plane, or Insecticon. An Upgrade can be put on a character only if that character matches the
listed requirement.
Source: Wizards of the Coast (2018-10-11)    【Link to Ruling】
Tags: Upgrade
Let’s say I have an Upgrade that says "Put on Planes only" and I put it on a Plane. But then next turn I
flip the Plane to its other mode, and it’s no longer a Plane. What happens?

The Upgrade stays with the character it’s on. That ability limits only what the Upgrade can initially be
put on. Once that happens, the Upgrade doesn’t check again.

Notes from Matafer [The Ark]:
"This follows the path of Superion Super Pierce. As always play your PP as soon as you can on Silverbolt. This build enables more weapon upgrades with Powerglide scooping up what he can. So protect your Powerglide and focus your direct damage on an enemy - that you can finish off with Alpha Bravo. Once you combine - start dropping hdp-blasters! Here is the original list [https://transformers.cards/deck/5d707328/superion-super-pierce]"
