Notes from Deck of the Day:
"Card of the day for today is Contemplation from wave 7.

At first, I was thinking about making a deck using cosmos, nemesis or tread bolt to take advantage of it going three cards deeper towards a reshuffle. Instead, I focused more on it's ability for card selection, pitching a bunch of bad cards to draw into new ones, so I went for a deck that would play a lot of cards it doesn't want in hand, and landed on Ultra Magnus. His bot mode ability to ping the whole enemy team (as well as your own a little) if he flips two oranges and two blues as he attacks is a really sweet ability, and the brave coupled with it and the Ultra Magnus Armor makes him really beefy, especially with his Impervious stratagem. Tow-Line could really be almost any Autobot in that star cost range, and Bluestreak, Turbo Board or Red Alert would be nice alternative options for a similar function. I went for Tow-Line because of that bot mode ability somewhat synergizing with what Ultra Magnus was trying to do. Additionally, his ability to plan 1 when you play your first action is pretty nice, able to get rid of those unwanted cards in your hand and setup for a magnus swing or even for himself in bot mode.

The deck itself is pretty simple, cramming in almost as many multi-icon cards as I could get my hands on into the decklist. If you wanted to, you could turn the 3 Ultra Magnus Armors into 6 total other multi-icon star cards and run Master Of Metallikato to go all in on the icon flip effects of both characters. I went for a toolbox kit of armors in the list as well as the Ultra Magnus Armors and Improvised Shields mostly to add some utility to the deck with some nice effects, but also as more fodder to throw into Impervious to protect that Ultra Magnus Armor. Otherwise, Contemplation, Inspiring Leadership, Backup Plan and Confidence are all there to churn through the deck, ridding yourself of those unwanted cards and hopefully drawing better ones. Most of the time, your action play is going to be some form of sifting effect, ditching those bad cards that are only really in there for the battle icons and draw into your upgrade plays.

I think the strategy for this deck is to swing Ultra Magnus in as often as possible, getting that bot effect off hopefully every swing and then flipping down to brave mode afterwards, both to protect Tow-Line as well as make sure that Dare to Believe is a blue icon for him for when he defends. Ultra Magnus is really beefy even from the get go in a mixed deck, he's coming in for 6 base with +2 from his armor on the first turn, perhaps even more if you go second, and his tendency to flip a couple oranges makes it a likely one-shot on many small characters, especially if you get the bot trigger to go off. Alternatively, you could flip Tow-Line to bot mode as well, trying to trigger his bot mode effect as well as get in that nice swing with 5 base attack. Later in the game, this is a pretty good option if Magnus is badly wounded and both characters are loaded up well with the Ultra Magnus Armor and Matrix of Leadership, which is doubly effective since Ultra Magnus is a leader, you could find yourself swinging for about 10-15 with both characters, occasionally getting a wide ping and keeping your action play to boot.
