This is set is a unique 1v2 three-player game mode. One player controls Unicron with special cards, while the other two players each use their own standard deck.
The Unicron raid is set up to be played throughout 3 Phases. Each Phase will have a unique team and battle cards for the Unicron player to control. The two players win by defeating Unicron, and Unicron wins by defeating all of the two players' characters.
This set is typically not permitted in Transformers TCG play, and should generally only be used for this game mode. As always though, you & your friends are welcome to do what you want.
Players NOT playing Unicron follow all normal rules for deck building: 25 ★ team, minimum 40 battle cards, banned cards are still not allowed.
This is the suggested deck for the Unicron player to use. It contains the following cards:
• 3 Terrifying Resilience
• 3 Primary laser
• 3 Handheld Blaster
• 3 Improvised Shield
• 3 Fight for Position
• 2 Disassemble
• 3 Hold the Line
• 3 Unconventional Flying Object
• 3 Enhanced Talons (Unique raid Phase 1 card)
• 3 Leashed Will (Unique raid Phase 1 card)
• 3 Imminent Chaos (Unique raid Phase 1 card)
This deck is only, and the Unicron player is welcome to make their own deck. However, do note that it could potentially be very strong and hard to beat; this set was tested using the deck listed above.
If the Unicron player still decides to build their own deck, they have some extra rules to follow.
• Their deck must be exactly 32 cards, including 3 Enhanced Talons, 3 Leashed Will, and 3 Imminent Chaos
• Cards may not have a ★ value
• The banned list still applies
Whether the Unicron player uses their own deck or the suggested one, additional cards will be added to the deck in Phases 2 and 3. It will state on the bottom-left of a card when it is to be added to the deck. Phase 1 cards will begin in your starting deck. When Phase 2 begins, you will then SHUFFLE Phase 2 cards into your deck and the same goes for Phase 3.
The Unicron player will place Unicron and Scourge on the battlefield in Alt Mode, as well as 2 Sweeps. The Sweeps only have 1 mode.
All players will shuffle their decks and begin the game by drawing three cards as usual.
Unicron goes first, and will go first again at the start of each Phase. At the start of the game, the other two players will decide amongst themselves who goes second and who goes third.
The Unicron player starts the game by drawing two cards: 1 for start of turn, and 1 for Unicron's ability text, giving them 5 cards total to start with.
Because the Unicron goes first, they cannot play any cards on that first turn. They may flip Scourge, but not Unicron. Unicron can never be flipped by choice or by card effects! He will be flipped to Bot Mode when Phase 3 begins.
As usual, Unicron's turn ends after he attacks with a character, but Unicron himself cannot attack until he's in Bot Mode. There is no restriction on which player he must attack, but
Brave and
Stealth work as they normally do.
The other two players each treat their first turns like you would normally do when going second: they draw a card, they may play one battle card, and they may flip a character, and their turn ends when they attack one Unicron's characters.
Unicron can be attacked at amy time as though he were tapped, however
Brave and
Stealth still act normally.
Phase 1 continues until Scourge & all Sweeps are KO'd, and all characters are tapped. Unicron in Alt Mode should be the only character remaining for that player.
The Unicron player places Cyclonue and Galvatron on the battlefield in Alt Mode. They then add 3 Insignificance, 3 Energon Harvest, and 3 Menacing Gaze to their deck and shuffle the deck, including scrap pile.
All characters untap, and the Unicron player goes first. Gameplay continues as normal, and there are no first-turn exceptions. Again, Unicron still cannot be flipped.
Phase 3 begins when Cyclonus and Galvatron are KO'd and all characters are tapped.
Unicron then Transforms into Bot Mode and that player adds 3 Hand of Doom, 3 Colossal Proportions, and 3 Bend to My Will into their deck and shuffles it with their scrap pile.
The other two players gain the stratagem Light Our Darkest Hour...
Once per turn, Unicron may use one of his abilities by removing the required amount of Chaos Counters.
If the either of the two players manages to KO Unicron before he KO's all of their characters, they win.
• The Unicron player begins the game and begins each Phase going first.
• Unicron can be attacked as though he were tapped as long as he does not have Stealth or one of his minions doesn't have Brave. While Unicron is in alt mode, if he would take 2 or more damage, instead no damage is dealt, and you remove 1 chaos counter from him, if any. The damage is still prevented even if Unicron has no chaos counters on him. If Unicron would only take 1 damage, then it is dealt to him as normal.
• At the start of the Unicron player's turn during Phase 1 and 2, they draw an additional card and put 2 chaos counters on Unicron.
• If at the beginning of Unicron players turn during Phase 1 or 2, if Unicron has 20 or more Chaos Counters on it, that player WINS the game.
• If all characters owned by one of the non-Unicron players are tapped, but the other non-Unicron player still has untapped characters, the tapped-out player still takes their turn as normal, but skips their attack Phase.
• At the beginning of each NON-UNICRON player's turn, those players decide who will go first this round. That player takes their turn then the other player goes.
• When all of Unicron's minions are KO'd during Phases 1 and 2, if either player has any characters still untapped, both players immediately take an All-Out-Attack on Unicron. After all characters are tapped this way, untap all characters and begin the next Phase with the Unicron player's turn.
• Unicron cannot flip until Phase 3.
• Unicron cannot attack until Phase 3.
• When Unicron battles in any Phase, you still flip battlecards like normal and calculate damage as normal.
• Players will act as their own. You cannot play a Grenade Laucher onto another player's character.
• If a player going against Unicron has Brave, then that character must be attacked by the Unicron player.
• This is a 2V1 game format. 2 Players VS 1 Unicron player.
• Can you upgrade Unicron in Phase 1 and 2? Yes he is a normal character and can be upgraded the same way.
• Can Unicron transform? NO, he is always in alt mode in Phase 1 and 2 and ONLY BOT mode in Phase 3.
