Player Interview

Where are you from?
Maryland

When and how did you discover the Transformers TCG?
Technomagus actually introduced me to the game while waiting for our local Friday Night Magic to start.

What was/is your favorite team to run and why?
Before the ban it was W3 Shockwave, W1 Flamewar and Eyuk, I think after the ban Ill move to Crasher over Eyuk. Ive always been a control player when it comes to Magic the Gathering and I think Shockwave allows the pilot to control the game in such a unique way by stripping them of a hand and forcing the opponent to play in top deck mode. Eyuk was there as a bullet sponge that could heal and strip important green or black pips out of the scrap pile so allow a better control on game altering effects that may harm me with Flamewar adding to the toughness plan to make the rest of the team just beefy. Its a challenging deck to pilot and allows for some pretty fascinating gameplay lines. Each piece is pretty flexible and the deck has a ton of options for certain matchups.

When and how did you discover the post-cancellation community?
I discovered it after a very negative experience with a different community group that was doing something very similar. Once I realized that Technomagus was involved with this one I basically just did a full transfer over and Ive enjoyed it since.

Who's your favorite Transformers character and why?
Shockwave by a mile. Hes cold and calculated, to the point of canonically (according to the new Netflix series) removing his morality chip in order to perform his functions without emotion getting in the way, even if he has to harm other Decepticons to fulfill Megatrons orders. Its incredibly metal and makes for a truly evil Decepticon.

What's your favorite card and why?
Favorite battlecard has to be End Hostilities, simply saying no to an aggro players aggressive stance means that I can crack back with a very front loaded blue beater.

Do you have any advice for players who want to get into the competitive scene or the TCG in general?
Personally, the best advice is Go for it. I didnt realize how much fun it was on a competitive level until I went from going to locals just to play a preconstructed deck out of the box, moving to building my own jank deck with King Starscream, to running a competitive bugs list for 6 months straight gunning to get to the Energon Invitationals. Even now after my long hiatus once I started training for this event I realized how much I missed playing it. Dont be afraid to look for cool synergies because theres SO many different options to choose from.
