I discovered the Transformers TCG in 2019 through a friend at a local comic book store.
My favorite team to run is an old Octone build running Octone, Flamewar and Autobot Hot Rod. This was when I began to become familiar with the concept of deck building.
I discovered the post-cancellation community around Season 2 Encounter 5 after a year of putting the game in a box for about a year.
My favorite Transformers character is Strarscream. Me and my group of friends that I play Magic: the Gathering with watched Transformers: Prime a lot, and we loved Starscreams character and lines in the show. His personality, flavor, and timelessness have always been a huge part of what made Transformers feel like a world.
My favorite character card is Octone, Capricious Agitator. I always loved the idea of mercenaries in Transformers, and Octone was the second SRT I ever pulled (The first was KIng Starscream). I vividly remember taking the physical card out of the sleeve, folding it, and putting it back in the sleeve during my early days of playing. I always felt that the triple changing design of the cards was so brilliant, and combining that with the unique bounty mechanic made Octone a really memorable and interesting card to use.
My advice would be to feel free to be creative. While Transformers is a card game with meta, bans and the constant search for the perfect deck, I truly believe that it is different. Transformers is a game with so many levels of complexity and depth that every card has a valid chance to win and do crazy things in this game. If you see a connection between cards, dont let the meta and optimal number limit what you think is best or fun. Any idea can make it to the top with creativity, time and a little bit of luck. Those ideas are what build a game into more than the sum of its parts.
